What if I do not agree with the reconsideration decision?
After a reconsideration, the next step is to appeal to an independent tribunal called the Social Security Tribunal (SST). You cannot appeal to the SST unless you have gone through the reconsideration process first.
On the SST website, you can find the Notice of Appeal form and information about how to start an appeal. You can also start an appeal by sending a letter, but it must have all the information that the form asks for. Visit the SST website at www1.canada.ca/en/sst and click on Employment Insurance appeals, then on General Division.
To start an appeal, you must make sure the SST receives your Notice of Appeal or letter no later than 30 days after you received the reconsideration decision.
You can email the form to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Or you can mail it to:
Social Security Tribunal
PO Box 9812
Or you can fax it to 1-855-814-4117 (toll-free in Canada and the USA).
