Does getting spousal support affect how much I get from OW or ODSP?

Yes. OW or ODSP reduces the amount of assistance you get each month by the amount you get in spousal support.

You have to tell OW or ODSP about spousal support payments that you get. You do this when you report your income each month.

If you do not get your support payment, they will not reduce your assistance.

Not reporting your support payments

If you do not report spousal support payments to OW or ODSP, you will have to pay back all or some of the assistance that you get.

If OW or ODSP says you have to pay back assistance, you may want to contact a community legal clinic. See How can I get legal help?
