Working while you are on social assistance
Do earnings exemptions apply to money that everyone in my household earns?
Usually, the general rules about earnings exemptions apply to money that anyone in your household earns from:
- a job
- a training allowance
- being self-employed
But, there are some special rules. For example, OW or ODSP will not subtract money earned by someone who is:
- a full-time high school student
- a full-time student in a post-secondary program, like at a college or university
And they will not subtract money earned by your children under 18 who live with you and are part of your household.
