{"id":65089,"date":"2026-05-14T12:45:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T16:45:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cleo.on.ca\/?post_type=post&#038;p=65089"},"modified":"2026-05-14T12:45:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T16:45:54","slug":"new-ei-appeal-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cleo.on.ca\/en\/whats-new\/new-ei-appeal-process","title":{"rendered":"New EI appeal process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Steps to Justice has information about the <a href=\"https:\/\/stepstojustice.ca\/legal-topic\/employment-and-work\/employment-insurance\/applying-and-getting-decision\/all\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new Employment Insurance (EI) appeal process<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Starting <strong>April 1, 2026<\/strong>, there&#8217;s a new process to deal with some appeals about EI decisions.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not happy with <a href=\"https:\/\/stepstojustice.ca\/questions\/employment-and-work\/what-can-i-do-if-i-disagree-with-a-decision-on-my-ei-claim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Service Canada&#8217;s EI reconsideration decision<\/a>, you can now appeal to the new <a href=\"https:\/\/stepstojustice.ca\/questions\/employment-and-work\/how-do-i-appeal-to-the-employment-insurance-board-of-appeal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Employment Insurance Board of Appeal (EI BOA)<\/a>. These appeals used to be dealt with by the Social Security Tribunal \u2013 General Division (SST \u2013 General Division).
