Across Ontario, community legal clinics give free legal help to tenants who have low incomes.\u00a0To find the nearest community legal clinic, go to Legal Aid Ontario&#8217;s website at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legalaid.on.ca\/legal-clinics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">legalaid.on.ca\/legal-clinics<\/a>. Or call Legal Aid Ontario at <strong>1\u2011800\u2011668\u20118258<\/strong>. For TTY, call <strong>711<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tenant Duty Counsel (TDC)<\/strong> can help tenants who do not have a lawyer on or before the day of their hearing. TDC are lawyers and legal workers paid for by Legal Aid Ontario. They can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>give legal advice<\/li>\n<li>review documents and prepare forms<\/li>\n<li>help tenants and landlords agree on issues<\/li>\n<li>sometimes represent tenants during a hearing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can sign up for TDC services at <a href=\"https:\/\/tdc.acto.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tdc.acto.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You may also be able to get legal help from Pro Bono Ontario&#8217;s free legal advice hotline at <strong>1-855-255-7256<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You can get information from the Canadian Centre for Housing Rights at <strong>1-800-263-1139<\/strong> or <a href=\"https:\/\/housingrightscanada.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">housingrightscanada.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can also see CLEOs resource called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleo.on.ca\/en\/publications\/ontario\">Getting legal help: A directory of community legal clinics in Ontario<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>CLEO&#8217;s <strong>Steps to Justice<\/strong> website has step-by-step information about common legal problems, including housing law.
