{"id":46322,"date":"2018-07-19T19:26:22","date_gmt":"2018-07-19T23:26:22","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2024-05-24T12:25:21","modified_gmt":"2024-05-24T16:25:21","slug":"what-if-i-signed-employment-contract-says-how-much-notice-i-get","status":"publish","type":"publications-page","link":"https:\/\/www.cleo.on.ca\/en\/publications-page\/what-if-i-signed-employment-contract-says-how-much-notice-i-get","title":{"rendered":"What if I have an employment contract?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes employers try to limit the amount of notice you can get by putting an amount in your employment contract.<\/p>\n<p>If the amount of notice in the contract <strong>could be less<\/strong> than minimum notice in the ESA, a court will not apply the contract.<\/p>\n<p>There are other reasons why a court might order your employer to give you more notice, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the contract is not clear<\/li>\n<li>your employer forced you to sign the contract<\/li>\n<li>your employer tricked you into signing the contract<\/li>\n<li>the notice under the contract is extremely unfair<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You may want to get legal advice about whether you are limited to the notice in your employment contract.
