{"id":46454,"date":"2015-03-30T20:13:14","date_gmt":"2015-03-31T00:13:14","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2026-04-29T10:56:47","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T14:56:47","slug":"retirement-homes","status":"publish","type":"publications-page","link":"https:\/\/www.cleo.on.ca\/en\/publications-page\/retirement-homes","title":{"rendered":"Retirement homes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A retirement home is a rented home where:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>most of the residents are at least 65 years old,<\/li>\n<li>there are normally at least 6 residents who are not related to the landlord, and<\/li>\n<li>there are at least 2 care services available to residents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because of the care services, all retirement homes that provide them are also care homes, so the information in this resource applies to them too.<\/p>\n<p>But there are also extra rules for retirement homes that are not covered in this resource. These include care and safety standards, a \u201cBill of Rights\u201d for tenants, and a special agency to take complaints and enforce the rules.
