You might be able to get these benefits if your weekly earnings have gone down by more than 40% because you are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>pregnant, or<\/li>\n<li>caring for your new child.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are self-employed, you can apply for these benefits if you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>made at least $8,492 in self-employed earnings after taxes in 2023,<\/li>\n<li>paid EI premiums for at least 12 months, and<\/li>\n<li>signed up for EI&#8217;s self-employed program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The amount you have to make to qualify may change from year to year. But it is always based on the past year&#8217;s earnings.<\/p>\n<p>To pay premiums as a self\u2011employed worker, you must set up a MyServiceCanada account.
