{"id":51435,"date":"2022-10-14T14:45:38","date_gmt":"2022-10-14T18:45:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cleo.on.ca\/?post_type=publications-page&#038;p=51435"},"modified":"2025-05-13T15:54:23","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T19:54:23","slug":"how-much-support-and-for-how-long","status":"publish","type":"publications-page","link":"https:\/\/www.cleo.on.ca\/en\/publications-page\/how-much-support-and-for-how-long","title":{"rendered":"How much support and for how long?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>amount<\/strong> of support a partner gets and <strong>how long<\/strong> they get it for, depends on things like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>how long they were together,<\/li>\n<li>if there are children and who is taking care of them,<\/li>\n<li>each partner&#8217;s role during the relationship,<\/li>\n<li>each partner&#8217;s age, and<\/li>\n<li>each partner&#8217;s financial situation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines<\/strong> (SSAGs) are often used by lawyers and judges to help decide spousal support.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a spousal support calculator at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysupportcalculator.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mysupportcalculator.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some agreements or court orders set a date when support payments will end or be reviewed.
