{"id":58081,"date":"2024-07-22T17:04:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-22T21:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cleo.on.ca\/?post_type=publications-page&#038;p=58081"},"modified":"2025-09-05T14:50:30","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T18:50:30","slug":"other-rights-for-workers","status":"publish","type":"publications-page","link":"https:\/\/www.cleo.on.ca\/en\/publications-page\/other-rights-for-workers","title":{"rendered":"Other rights for workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You have other legal rights that are not in the ESA.<\/p>\n<p>For example, you have rights related to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>harassment or discrimination<\/li>\n<li>health and safety<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleo.on.ca\/en\/publications\/rightswrk\/where-can-i-find-out-more-and-get-legal-help\">local community legal clinic<\/a> may be able to give you information or advice about problems related to your rights at work.<\/p>\n<h2>Make a human rights claim<\/h2>\n<p>If your employer does not respect your human rights, you may be able to bring a claim to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>In most cases, you must do this within <strong>one year<\/strong> of when the problem happened. And you cannot make a claim for the same reason with a court or the Ministry of Labour.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/hrlsc.on.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Human Rights Legal Support Centre<\/a> has information to help you apply to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
