How long can I get EI?

EI rules have changed because of COVID-19. There is a new 50 week maximum which means people can get EI for longer.

These changes are expected to last until September 25, 2021.

You can get EI benefits for between 14 and 50 weeks. It depends on the unemployment rate where you live and how many hours you worked in your qualifying period.
