When your spouse or dependants earn money

This rule applies to people in your household who:

They can earn up to $200 in take-home pay before ODSP reduces the amount you get.

If they earn more than $200, ODSP reduces the amount you get by 50% of what they earn over $200.

For example, if they earn $250, your ODSP payment will go down by half of $50, which is $25.

Help with costs related to work

Employment Ontario and ODSP may be able to help you with costs related to work.

Talk to your Employment Ontario worker if you need help with costs related to a job, for example:

  • tools, equipment, and clothes
  • travel
  • certification and training fees
  • emergency child care
  • workplace accommodations, for example, assistive devices or a sign language interpreter

Talk to your ODSP worker if you need money for things that will help you get ready to look for work, for example:

  • mental health counselling
  • getting identification documents (ID)
  • internet access

If you need to change your child care because of work, ODSP may also be able to help with the costs.
