New Canada Child Benefit amounts

Steps to Justice has updated information on how much someone can get from the Canada Child Benefit. Now, the maximum amount someone can get is:

  • $8,157 a year for each child under 6. It was $7,997.

Updated rules about air conditioners

Steps to Justice has updated information on the rules about air conditioning in rental properties.

Starting July 1, 2026, tenants have the right to install air conditioners in their homes if they meet the new rules. They can do so even if their leases or landlords do not allow air conditioners.
