Do I need to get something in writing?
Most tenancy agreements have to be in writing on the government’s standard lease form. This does not apply if you live in public or subsidized housing.
If your agreement is not in writing, you can ask your landlord for a written copy. A tenancy agreement can be valid even if it is not in writing.
