CLEO reliability

CLEO has the experience and expertise needed to develop Guided Pathways that you and your clients can trust.

CLEO has years of experience developing Guided Pathways that help people understand legal processes, complete documents, and find the help they need. We work with community and legal organizations to create tools that are reliable, accessible, and safe to use.

Our experience

CLEO has used guided-interview technology since 2007. We launched our current Guided Pathways program in 2018. Today, we offer more than 100 Guided Pathways in English, and most are also available in French. Thousands of people use them each month.

Our team brings together expertise in law, plain language, design, technology, privacy, and accessibility. We use these skills to develop and maintain Guided Pathways that meet the needs of users and organizations.

We have worked with organizations such as the Human Rights Legal Support Centre to develop a Guided Pathway that helps people prepare an application to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. We have an on-going partnership with Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General to develop and maintain Guided Pathways for family law and Small Claims Court processes. We have also supported community legal clinics with intake, referrals, and document preparation.

Privacy and security

CLEO takes privacy and security seriously. We work with your organization to decide what information the Guided Pathway needs to collect, who can access it, and how to protect it.

Before launching a Guided Pathway, we agree on how to manage consent, share information, and keep or delete records.

CLEO stores personal information on servers in Canada. We maintain the Guided Pathways technology, while your organization remains responsible for the personal information it collects to provide its services.

Only authorized staff can access information through secure accounts. CLEO and your organization also agree on how to respond if a privacy or security problem occurs.

Accessibility and ease of use

CLEO designs Guided Pathways to be easy to understand and use. We use plain language, clear questions, and step-by-step instructions.

We also consider the needs of people who use screen readers, keyboards, or mobile devices. We work with your organization to identify when clients may need help completing a Guided Pathway and what other options should be available.

Reliable technology and ongoing support

CLEO hosts and maintains the Guided Pathways system. It is available 24 hours a day, apart from planned maintenance, repairs, updates, or unexpected outages.

We also help your organization get started. This can include training, instructions, and support for staff who manage the Guided Pathway.

Your organization usually provides direct support to its clients and frontline staff. CLEO supports your designated staff contacts and aims to respond to support requests within two business days.

We make routine updates to Guided Pathways and work with your organization when larger changes are needed.

Testing and improving Guided Pathways

CLEO tests Guided Pathways before launch and works with organizations to improve them over time.

Depending on the project, we can collect information about how people use the Guided Pathway, where they have difficulty, and whether it helps clients and staff.

This helps us understand what works well and what needs to change.
