When must my employer pay me?
Your employer must pay you your wages by the later of these dates:
- 7 days after your employment ends
- your next regular pay day
Your wages include:
- money that you earned from working
- money your employer owes because of your termination, such as termination pay or severance pay
- unpaid vacation pay
Your employer can give you severance pay in small amounts. But you must agree in writing or the Director of Employment Standards must approve it. In these cases, your employer must make the payments within 3 years.
If your employer misses a scheduled payment, they must pay you what’s left of the severance pay right away.
